And his wife spoke about how much has been invested in the enterprise over the last 6 years: “Three million dollars. The main part is an investment project for the construction of a warehouse and a painting workshop, the acquisition of a Turkish automatic line, which cost 2 million. 10% of investments are investments of the regional executive committee, 60% are own funds and 30% are borrowed,” says Tatyana Vdovenko.

Lunin residents will repay the loan and make leasing payments until 2023.

This project made it possible to create a full-cycle enterprise - now the plant does not just pour dishes, as they did for many years, sending blanks to Russia. “I have been supplying blanks to Neva Metal Utensils for 12 years, over a million a year. And I still deliver to this day - the contract ends in February. We raised them to their feet, just like Landskrona. But they themselves couldn’t get up - they didn’t apply the coating: as soon as we agree on the purchase of the line - bang - devaluation, as soon as we move away - again... The third time we managed to build a painting shop and today we have a full-cycle plant - from casting to packaging,” said Yuri Plaksin.

Million dollars in taxes and up to 60% profit

Every year, Victoria processes more than 1,000 tons of aluminum, from which 180 types of products are made. And for profitable products, the company does not rely on government support.

“For 20 years, we have not operated a single month with a loss, when the surrounding enterprises are heavily in debt. 160 people in the state pay a million dollars in taxes a year,” said Tatyana Vdovenko.

“Profitability varied over the years – 15% and 30%, sometimes reaching 60%. At the same time, we are constantly working to reduce the labor intensity, material intensity, and energy intensity of our products,” assures Yuri Plaksin.

With hope for the nuclear power plant and the EU

The main costs of the enterprise are metal, paint and electricity. If the first two components are imported and cannot influence the cost of raw materials at Victoria, then they hope for a reduction in the price of electricity.

“The BelNPP is being commissioned – we are waiting for electricity to become cheaper. Otherwise it will be difficult for our industry. They will be obliged to do it cheaper - our enterprises will get a breath of air,” hopes Yuri Plaksin.

For the year, the company, according to the director, has revenue of $4 million. Last year, only 40% came from the export component. Victoria intends to sell 80 percent of its dishes abroad, and not only to Russia: “Previously, we exported 70-80% of our products. Now we will do it under our own brand. After we took part in a specialized exhibition in Moscow for the first time, we did not have time to fulfill orders. Moreover, we have expanded the geography - we are starting deliveries to Armenia and Azerbaijan,” explained Tatyana Vdovenko.

The next step will be expansion into Europe, since Victoria was successfully certified.

“In two months, we received the right to sell our dishes in the European Union for 3 years. There are already first orders from Poland and Lithuania. This is a very promising market,” she said.

Moreover, when delivering to Europe, Lunin residents will focus on frying pans for induction cookers.

“Today we can double production volumes. We have created such capacities that we can now develop dynamically. This is what we were going for,” added Yuri Plaksin.

Stopcock from lazy people

Why can’t Victoria satisfy all orders? "Human factor. We have a second foundry, but there is no one to work in it - people won’t come even for a salary of 1200-1400 rubles. It’s very difficult to find a good specialist in Luninets with a population of 30,000,” complains Yuri Plaksin.

The problem will be partially solved by production automation. “A contract has been concluded for the supply of an Italian automatic assembly line. In a year, there will be a different picture here: a conveyor where brands will be applied with a laser, handles will be automatically screwed on and threads will be sharpened - the line costs 240 thousand euros,” says Tatyana Vdovenko.
