Business in the field of IT technologies: ideas, advantages, features

The 21st century has seen rapid development of the entire digital industry. Business in the field of IT technology continues to gain momentum, because more and more people refuse to be satisfied with little and are ready to take certain risks in order to achieve more.

Today, the Internet gives people the opportunity to work, study and discover their talents - the information technology market has more and more diverse offers every day. The task of an entrepreneur who provides services in the IT field can be called assistance in the client’s interaction with the Internet environment. We’ll talk about how exactly the workflow in the digital industry should be structured so that the business generates income.

Popular business ideas in the IT field

At the heart of every business is a problem. A successful entrepreneur knows that simply being the best among the competition is not enough. Much more important is the specific ability of the project to solve the client's problems. IT ideas for business that bring decent income may come to mind by chance, but if you look at the current situation with startups, you can identify a pattern: they are all based on a specific problem and offer an effective solution. Of course, you don't have to be an innovator for a business to be successful. It is quite enough to correctly decide on a specific direction and plan everything carefully.

You shouldn’t chase originality at the expense of competence - it’s better to reproduce someone else’s experience better and refine an idea that already exists on the market, than to be a pioneer with an irrelevant but unusual idea. What can be done in the information technology market today:

  1. Open an online store on VKontakte. Promotion on social networks has long been considered a powerful enough tool to make the social network the main platform for sales. Thousands of people have already started their own business and are successfully working in this direction, despite high competition and increasing advertising costs.
  2. Dropshipping. IT business ideas that involve mediation are increasingly popular in Russia. Opening an online store and selling goods from the manufacturer at a premium can be quite profitable; the main thing is to choose an in-demand product and find a reliable supplier. For this business, you don’t even need to rent warehouse space, because the goods will be delivered to the buyer directly from the manufacturer.
  3. Online school. Quite a common trend today. Being an expert in a certain field, it will not be difficult for an enterprising person to turn his knowledge into income if he can present himself correctly. Trainings, courses and video tutorials are new generation IT business ideas that are in demand online today.
  4. Working with websites. Services for the creation and promotion of Internet resources can be provided independently (freelance), or you can assemble a team of specialists. This includes copywriting, web design, SEO optimization and everything that will help your clients find their clients.

The listed options are noticeably different from each other, which indicates a broad concept of business in the IT industry.

Original IT ideas for business

business in the IT field, where to start and which idea to choose

IT ideas for business require not only originality in their solutions, but also a thoughtful approach in execution - it is important to take into account the mood of the target audience.

We will give some examples of successful ideas for business in the IT field:

  1. Creating applications for drones or smartways . Such gadgets have become widespread on the European market. They differ in that they have open and accessible synchronization with smartphones or tablets, which can be used to control them. Additional applications that aim to simplify the interface for controlling or configuring drones or smartways can be a huge success among younger generations.
  2. Creation of an online clothing fitting service . Such technologies may not seem new, but their effectiveness is still in question. By synchronizing the camera application and built-in tools, you can create a convenient and popular application with which you can try on various things from online stores.
  3. Applications or programs for virtual reality . The era of virtual reality is conquering the information technology market. Today it is not only an entertainment area, but also a quality assistant in many areas of activity. Games for universal virtual reality glasses for personal computer or smartphone platforms are also especially popular.
  4. Creation of coaching courses . A well-developed strategy and synchronization of the coaching service with social networks can bring not only success with a potential audience, but also significant financial profit with proper monetization. Self-education is a promising vector that is relevant for both young people and middle-aged people. The online service of training courses on various current topics is worth attention.
  5. Applications for autonomous control of equipment . The decision to automate and simplify the process of managing household appliances, lighting and similar elements in our home can be successful with a rational approach. Creating an application that could synchronize with technology (for example, a TV) via Bluetooth and control it would make our lives easier. Such solutions can become another impetus in the development of smart home technology.
  6. Free service for learning foreign languages . This is a current direction for those who want to receive free knowledge in learning foreign languages. By collecting a database and developing a bright and user-friendly interface, you can achieve high results in the development of such a service. With the right level of popularity, such a service can be easily monetized to generate financial profit. An example of such solutions is the Duolingo service.
  7. Creation of cloud data storage services. Today, such services require more careful preparation and the presence of separate servers. At the initial stage, you can provide services for small companies. The key to success for such a service can be a well-thought-out and informative interface, which will be as simple and clear to work with as possible.
  8. " Unified Messenger " application. Each of us has a smartphone on which at least several applications of popular instant messengers are installed. These are Whatsapp, Viber, Telegram, Skype, Facebook messenger. The idea is to create an application that allows you to log in using different services once and manage communication exclusively through its interface. A good example is email collectors that at one time solved a similar problem - Microsoft Outlook, Mailbird, Thunderbird, The Bat!
  9. Silent laptop. A headache for many IT specialists and ordinary users is the need to constantly listen to the cooler working. The idea is to design and create a cooling system for a powerful laptop without fans. Such developments exist, but they are characterized by low performance (a powerful processor gets very hot), so manufacturers install “weak hardware”. As a know-how, you can make the case itself or a bulk copper tube as part of the cooling system, following the example of the DB4 Fanless Chassis. In this case, even powerful processors and video cards can be cooled.
  10. A service for investing in local businesses. When it comes to investing, we think of Apple, Coca-Cola, Sberbank and Gazprom. However, you can get much more income by investing in local businesses - the Vegetables and Fruits store on the next street, a children's development center on the ground floor of your house. The idea is to create a convenient service that would help attract investments and business partners on a local basis. A well-thought-out rating system will help minimize fraud.
  11. Teaching reading and multiplication tables for schoolchildren. While English-speaking schoolchildren learn to read in a few months using the whole-word method and quickly achieve good results, Russian-speaking students read syllables for six months or a year and by the end of the first grade achieve 30-40 words per minute.
In the Russian-speaking space, it is simply necessary to repeat the super-successful experience of the Australian company Blake Education, which made a real splash by offering the services Reading Eggs (teaching reading using the whole word method), Math Seeds (interactive mathematics for schoolchildren and preschoolers).
  12. News to order. To find out the content of your favorite blogger’s latest video, you need to watch it. If there are several dozen such bloggers, the event will drag on for several hours. The idea is to create a service that would help receive brief summary information about the content of selected YouTube and Instagram bloggers automatically. This will be helped by recognizing and processing audio (subtitles), using additional content (top comments) and services for generating meaningful content like Chatbot on neural networks.
  13. Augmented reality glasses. The Google Glass project was slowed down as legislation in many countries considered glasses with a camera to be spy equipment.
However, the future still lies in a fundamentally new device that will replace smartphones. And this device will most likely be glasses, and not a fancy helmet. The idea is to develop elements of augmented reality, focusing on practical applications (weather widgets, instant messengers, email, access to a photo gallery, etc.), and not the wow effect (games). The first version of the product may have no camera at all.
  14. Interactive database of automobile routes. There is no doubt that in the near future we will all be passengers in cars controlled by artificial intelligence. Today, it works on the same principle as the driver’s brain: it analyzes the external situation and makes a decision about the direction of movement. This idea is that most of the routes taken by city residents are repeated (home-work road), therefore a database can be created into which the car sends information about the features of a particular direction. If an unevenness or a problem area was detected along the route, then the next time the car will know about it without additional analysis and will be able to decide to take a detour or even change the route. Such a system will have a great effect when creating a global database that will help each car build an effective route, taking into account the smallest details, back in the garage. A distant similarity is the recording of traffic jams by drivers using the Yandex.Traffic service.

What ideas in the IT field can be implemented without financial investment?

During a crisis, special attention should be paid to such ideas, the implementation of which will not require large financial investments, or the threshold for entering the market will be low. Start-up capital is not required if you decide to do:

  1. Web design. To do this you will have to complete courses and have a certain sense of style.
  2. Copywriting. To begin with, literacy and the ability to express thoughts in writing will be enough, but in order to reach a decent level of income, you will need to learn the rules of writing strong articles and learn how to work with elements of the text.
  3. Conducting trainings. Just find those who are willing to pay for new knowledge and sell it.
  4. Earning money on your own website. IT ideas for online business are not limited to writing texts and working with graphics. Creating your own portal and filling it with relevant content can subsequently become a source of passive income. To do this, the site must attract traffic, which, with the help of contextual and targeted advertising, will bring money to the resource owner.
  5. Blogging. Creating interesting topical content can be very profitable. Today, large companies often buy advertising from bloggers for a lot of money, because people trust them much more than the media.

This is not a complete list of what you can do on the Internet without investment to start earning money. Business in the field of IT technology is a very broad concept, where in addition to content creation there is technical and information support, which can also be provided without large investments at the start.

Your own business in IT

The decision to open your own business in the field of information technology is a bold step that not everyone can take. It is very important to pay attention to planning and documentation at the preparatory stage.

If this is freelancing, then you should take into account amendments to the law and think about registering an individual entrepreneur. For a company, in addition to registration, it is very important to document commercial processes. All actions of enterprise employees must be put on a conveyor belt and worked out to the point of automation - this is the only way to qualify for a stable income.

Types of IT business where you can skip drawing up a company development strategy are rare, because in this area what worked yesterday may no longer be effective tomorrow. A person who has decided to start his own business in the IT industry must be able to grasp on the fly new trends and working tools that no one used yesterday, and also not be afraid of experiments.

We live in an amazing time of the flourishing of information technology, when anyone can realize their entrepreneurial opportunities using the Internet.
Knowledge, technology, resources - all this is within walking distance thanks to the network. With the help of Internet technologies, many problems of modern society can be solved. It is not surprising that a huge number of startups are concentrated in this niche - small companies just starting their operational activities or planning to open their own. Recently, startups have become fashionable in Russia. There have even become too many “start-ups” - everyone and everyone is starting their own business, while the quality of business ideas and their elaboration leave much to be desired. At first glance, starting your own business on the Internet is quite easy: come up with some service or program for a smartphone, make a website, invite a couple of friends to the team - and go ahead and invest.

However, not all so simple. And although the barrier to entry into business in the information technology market is indeed low, achieving success here is not easy. Solving this problem will require the founders to fully concentrate their efforts, perseverance and the ability to achieve their goals. To do this, you need to be not just a talented developer or manager - you need to become an entrepreneur.

It has been noted more than once that at the start, money for a start-up IT company becomes more of an evil than a blessing. The most promising projects are those that use their own funds and capabilities to create a product and independently enter the market with it. At the initial stage, a well-developed business idea, the opportunity to join the experience and knowledge of established entrepreneurs, a close-knit team of project participants and access to technology are much more important.

At the moment when a version of the product is ready, which can already be released to the market, the business begins. But here the help of venture investors can be very useful, because this is their main task - to help young companies conquer the market. The costs of conquering the market in the vast majority of cases significantly exceed the costs of product development. As Alexander Galitsky,

, “The idea, prototype and technology are 25% of all expenses, both monetary and time. The remaining 75% is turning the product into a business.”

Technologies for IT startups

The main task of any new project is to launch as quickly as possible with minimal costs and begin to generate at least some income. IT startups have a significant advantage in this case - relatively low costs for launching a project, since there is no need to invest in expensive fixed assets. In addition to the costs of development itself, the main costs of a typical IT startup are the purchase of software and development tools, as well as the rental of infrastructure to launch the project. At the same time, access to the most current and best technologies is one of the determining factors in creating a competitive product.

In most cases, developers prefer to use open technologies - this eliminates the cost of software and gives relative independence to the future project. It's worth noting that most major development platforms and tools are open source and available to everyone. On a commercial basis, mainly specialized and industry-specific solutions are distributed, which start-up companies often have no use for.

At the same time, the largest software vendors are interested in their technologies and products being used in as many projects as possible. Therefore, many of them offer special conditions for young companies wishing to develop solutions or implement services. It is obvious that such cooperation is beneficial to both parties - software manufacturers have the opportunity to attract new users to use their products, and developers receive preferential access to the most modern technologies, development tools, and most importantly, to the competencies and technological support of a large software manufacturer.

Today it is difficult to find a large international vendor that does not have established mechanisms for interaction and support for beginning developers. We asked representatives of leading software manufacturers operating in Russia to talk about their startup support policies.

Microsoft in Russia has one of the largest programs to support start-up entrepreneurs. Since 2006, the company has been actively working with startups, offering various forms of support for aspiring entrepreneurs - technological, grant, consulting, etc.

Sergey Eremin

, Director of the Microsoft Seed Fund in Russia, in response to the question about what goals software manufacturers pursue when supporting IT startups, speaks about the company’s global goals aimed at developing business skills among aspiring entrepreneurs in the IT field and increasing the competitiveness of Russian companies through technological, information and marketing assistance to young Russian projects. “In a broad sense, Microsoft’s task is to support start-up Russian companies developing software and adapting information technologies to the needs of society, to help promising young managers acquire the necessary business skills and, ultimately, to increase the share of intellectual products in the overall structure of the country’s GDP,” - notes Sergey Eremin.

SAP, a leading business software developer, is also very interested in collaborating with aspiring entrepreneurs. One of the programs launched by SAP to work with startups, SAP Startup Focus, is aimed at supporting the development of new applications on SAP HANA, an analytical platform for in-memory computing. For its part, SAP provides startups with access to technology, resources and the technology community, including interested venture capital funds.

As Dmitry Armyakov

, General Director of SAP Labs CIS, supporting startups, each company pursues its own goals and objectives, and such support is an integrated part of the marketing strategy. “Collaboration with startups ultimately allows us to accelerate the development of the technology market and expand its capabilities, both for the manufacturers themselves and for startups,” emphasizes Dmitry Armyakov.

Anastasia Ovchinnikova

, coordinator of the IBM SmartCamp program, also says that supporting IT startups with promising technologies that will subsequently shape the market is not only interesting, but also profitable. The company's work with startups is key to IBM's growth in areas such as cloud computing, mobility, big data and analytics.

Forms of support

According to Microsoft, most start-up companies need a technological resource, that is, modern, efficient development technologies and a software platform for deploying services. To solve this problem, the BizSpark program was launched, the implementation of which began in Russia in 2008. As part of the program, Microsoft provides developers with the opportunity to use a wide range of software for free, as well as support and assistance in promoting the product. Over five years, more than 2,500 companies have participated in the program. Also, since 2010, grant support for startups has been provided by the Microsoft Seed Fund.

“It is worth noting that Microsoft is interested, first of all, in the further growth of our young partners, their popularity and profitability,” emphasizes Sergey Eremin. – We consider a real success to be a business that has become widely in demand. That is why Microsoft presents promising projects to professional investors operating in the Russian market.”

Dmitry Armyakov also believes that technological support is the main way to support beginners.

Anastasia Ovchinnikova spoke about the IBM Global Entrepreneur program, which the company launched to support startups in 2010. Participation in the program allows start-up developers in the IT field to receive free access to IBM software and hardware, technical support for the project, personal consultations and assistance in promoting the finished product to the market.

“In November 2012, together with RVC, we announced the start of the program in Russia. The IBM SmartCamp competition is being held as part of the international Global Entrepreneur program. This is a unique international initiative aimed at finding aspiring entrepreneurs who are implementing projects that support IBM’s “Smart Planet” concept,” notes Anastasia Ovchinnikova.

Some companies also have extended support programs. The most interesting and promising startups receive additional resources and assistance from the vendor in developing and promoting the product to the market. For example, Microsoft has such a program. Participants receive a personalized experience with Microsoft, including a single point of entry and a collaboration plan tailored to the unique needs of a particular startup. This work may include joint marketing, business training, consulting, mentoring, technology, investment assistance, PR, etc.

In general, it is worth noting that startups have a lot to thank their vendors for. Various support programs for young companies allow you to save tens of thousands of dollars on software, technology and hosting, provide access to documentation and knowledge, provide prompt technical support, help bring a product to market, and provide recommendations to venture investors. All this allows us to concentrate on development and create interesting and marketable products.

Requirements for startups

The BizSpark program and the Microsoft Seed Fund support private companies that were founded no more than five years ago and have an annual income of up to $500,000. The area of increased attention is projects in the field of software and Internet services that are at the idea or prototype stage with a detailed business plan. -plan, having a qualified team capable of creating a successful business, demonstrating entrepreneurial and technological maturity. Commenting on the requirements for the age and turnover of the company, Sergey Eremin o.

The program is aimed at supporting companies developing a specific software product, therefore a key component of the sponsored company's business must be a replicable software product or service based on software. However, in general, Microsoft has minimal requirements for startups: you don’t even need a registered legal entity - only the desire to develop a product or service using Microsoft development tools or technologies.

SAP and IBM have higher requirements for startups. “Speaking about SAP’s program to support startups, it should be noted that an important requirement is the area in which it operates,” says Dmitry Armyakov. “We focus on companies working in the field of big data and analytics.”

In turn, IBM is looking for young companies that focus on the B2B sector. The main thing that should be present in the solution is a serious analytical component using technical devices (for example, sensors, sensors, video cameras), and communication networks. There are also standard requirements for the age and turnover of the company: in the case of IBM, the age of the company should not exceed 5 years, and the annual turnover should be less than $10 million. In this case, it is desirable to have a prototype of the proposed solution, and the solution itself must have the potential for development in the global market.

“Startups that meet these criteria become participants in the program and receive free access to IBM software and hardware, technical support for the project, consultations and assistance in promoting the finished product to the market,” emphasizes Anastasia Ovchinnikova.

Talking about examples of successful cooperation with startups, Sergey Eremin mentioned such projects as: BodyNova - solutions for 3D modeling of results, plastic surgeries, NormaSahar - a service for people with diabetes, MD Voice - a mobile service for the early detection of larynx diseases, Pirate Pay - a solution to protect content from unlicensed distribution on the Internet, Wobot - a social media monitoring and analytics service, RealSpeaker - a product for speech recognition with increased accuracy, etc.

Thanks to partnerships with Microsoft, Dnevnik.ru (an online educational environment and social network for students, teachers, parents, administration of educational institutions and governing bodies), the PayOnline electronic payment system, and the Pruffi online recruiting service are successfully developing.

“It’s gratifying to see student teams take prizes at the international Imagine Cup competition, create startups, successfully develop them and attract serious investments. Support programs for budding IT entrepreneurs work and are in demand, just like the projects themselves,” sums up Sergey Eremin.

Anastasia Ovchinnikova also talks about the success of IBM's Global Entrepreneur program - about 30 companies were selected that meet IBM's selection requirements to participate in the competition. Startups from various regions of the country took part in the competition - from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad.

“IBM is not an investor, but rather a partner in bringing a company to market,” says Ms. Ovchinnikova. “IBM’s expertise is trusted by key players in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Therefore, thanks to our support, participants in the IBM SmartCamp competition immediately become noticeable in the market, begin to develop rapidly and become promising targets for investors.” As an example, she cites the company SinproTek, the winner of the Russian stage of the IBM SmartCamp competition, which moved to the next stage of investment from one of the members of the Start-up Investments NP. And Localitics, the winner of the IBM SmartCamp finals in New York in 2011, immediately announced that it had raised $5.5 million in investments. The company has already received three times more money from the second investment.

Addressing budding entrepreneurs and those who are still thinking about the possibility of starting their own business, all speakers unanimously declare that today there are plenty of opportunities to start a business in the field of information technology. Trust your idea and boldly seek support, not so much financial as technological. Look for experienced experts who will help you see your idea as a development perspective, perhaps much more global. Contact specialized structures, companies that may be interested in the project, look for opportunities, investors, offers of support, compete and build partnerships with other startups and businesses. After all, until you declare yourself, no one will know about you. The main thing is not to be afraid to take the first step!

Business ideas in the IT field: how to choose a promising idea?

Defining a working framework is fairly easy if you consider the needs of digital users. Even an idea that is not in demand today may become promising in the future. One way to determine what will be in demand in the future in our country is to look at the work of our Western colleagues. It is no secret that most successful domestic startups are a successful adaptation of an idea already existing abroad. If at first glance you cannot determine whether your idea will work, you can look for inspiration on foreign thematic portals.

Benefits and Features

With the proper approach, business in the field of IT technology has a number of advantages:

  • there is always a client who is willing to pay;
  • regular increase in demand for IT products;
  • absence or relatively low requirements for the amount of starting capital;
  • development prospects.

In addition to the obvious advantages, the idea of opening an online business is notable for the fact that company employees can work remotely, being in different parts of the world. This not only makes cooperation more convenient, but also allows you to select only qualified personnel from around the globe.

Development trends in the IT field

Currently successful IT business ideas will be in demand for a long time only if they adapt to new times and technologies.

baking at home

Technological progress does not stand still, so over the years, qualified IT specialists will be increasingly needed, and the ways of interacting with information will also not remain unchanged.

Finally: 5 myths about salespeople in IT

1) You need an understanding of programming: languages and technologies . It comes with time, initially it is not so necessary.

2) Understanding technology is more important than understanding business . The best sellers understand, first of all, the client’s “business pains”. They are interested in technology, but not primarily.

3) IT is a young field, everything here is new, unlike anything else. This is also not true. Experience in b2b sales in the real sector, consulting sales or digital sales can greatly help you when working in IT sales.

4) IT salespeople have nowhere to grow . “IT salespeople are one of the fastest-growing guys in the company. Where do the owners or CEOs of companies come from? From sales,” says Yuri.

5) Guys are better at sales . Only girls can handle certain positions in IT sales. Girls can do better in lead generation, develop additional sales, and build long-term relationships with companies, and this is often an extremely important point. They have a unique ability - they are very corrosive and punctual. Therefore, behind every company there are consistently good sales girls.

Underwater rocks

Before you start preparing to open your own business, you should consider the following nuances:

  1. If at the initial stage the idea can be implemented alone, then before expanding it would be a good idea to enlist the support of the team so as not to lose the trust of clients and continue to control work processes.
  2. Business in the IT sector does not tolerate conservatism. Ignoring current trends and working with outdated methods will not lead to anything good.
  3. You should not equate all financial receipts with net income and engage in self-deception. In some cases, unnoticed costs call into question the relevance of the entire project, and by incorrectly calculating income, you can lose not only money, but also time.

Why are new technologies promising for small businesses?

If we compare small and large businesses, the main distinguishing features are not only different financial turnover, but also planning. In large businesses, the strategy is calculated 2-3 years in advance. This prevents the quick and painless implementation of new solutions. And often, when new technologies are used in production and other areas, they lead to the restructuring of the entire existing system at the enterprise.

Small businesses have no such problems. It is much easier for a small company to adapt to the needs of a new technology or solution. Therefore, it is small businesses that are the driving force behind the introduction of new technologies. Which are subsequently used in larger companies.

In small businesses that are deprived of large financial investments, new technologies can effectively increase production and make it possible to create a product that allows them to compete with even the largest industries. Innovative methods allow you to achieve your goals much faster.

The most popular areas for introducing new technologies are:

  • production;
  • construction;
  • trade;
  • services sector.

In the conditions of fierce competition in small business, the introduction of new technologies and ideas will allow the company to rebuild, create a more effective USP and quickly make a name for itself.

Business form

There are different ways to provide services in the IT field. An entrepreneur can independently choose the most convenient way of working and regulate the work process depending on the situation.

Freelancing

Globalization makes it possible for many companies to resort to the help of remote workers. This is considered a convenient and modern approach to workflows. Freelancers can be located at any distance from customers and work with only Internet access. Suitable for the first steps in providing IT services, but when the project reaches a higher level it may not be very effective.

IT consulting

Training and consultation of company managers and specialists in the field of IT are necessary to integrate and improve even products that may not be directly related to information technology.

IT company

Providing b2b services involves working to solve problems in a certain IT area. The company's clients are other organizations. IT companies offer their customers technologically advanced solutions and allow them to increase income through the implementation of information technologies. Business in the IT field, which involves selling services to companies, allows you to achieve stable high earnings, but will require larger investments at the start than other forms of activity in the IT field.

Earning money from developing technology

The development of technical innovations is a more complex and painstaking process, but a startup can be dedicated to this type of activity too. Reasonable savings when starting a business and following the rules for creating a cost-effective business model can lead to the appearance of a qualitatively new product on the market. Thus, the developers of a gadget for pets have created several prototypes of a new toy for cats and dogs, who are often left alone at home and are very bored without their beloved owner. The device was called Petcube.

Technical innovations are used in almost any field of activity known today - in sports, medicine, occupational safety and health, training and cosmetology. If you have an idea, you should try to bring it to life. There is no need to be afraid of a crisis - business without investments or with minimal investments is possible - just take on board the experience of the developer of a unique umbrella that allows you to free both hands. The new product is still at the design concept stage, but this does not prevent its author from participating in business idea competitions and competing for investor funds for the development of his project. Young startups can receive active support on crowdfunding platforms such as Kickstarter.

Registration

Before the company begins to provide services, the owner must go through the procedure of registering a legal entity. To register an IT company, you need:

  1. Form an individual entrepreneur or LLC.
  2. Decide on the form of taxation (OSNO or simplified tax system).
  3. Specify the OKVED code (72.20 “Software development and consulting in this area” or 72.60 “Other activities related to the use of computer technology and information technology”). One main code is selected, and all others, if necessary, can be specified as additional. The IT sector also includes codes 72.10, 72.30, 72.40, 72.50.
  4. Prepare the necessary documents: an application in form P11001, the founder’s decision or establishment agreement, the organization’s charter and a receipt for payment of the state fee.
  5. Pay the authorized capital within 4 months after registration (for an LLC the minimum amount is 10 thousand rubles).

Project management system

The management system is what the entire business rests on.
Kernel. If the strategy and business plan are the foundation of your business, then the management system is the piles, the supporting element that ensures the reliability of the entire structure. Without it, everything will collapse, and you will be left with the ruins of your dream of world domination and your own small (or large) cozy IT company. Any system in an organization is impossible without a project management methodology. Methods can be different, flexible like Agile, which we discussed above, or classical, such as the “project triangle”, and one in no way cancels the other. You can build some kind of hybrid from them and implement it in your company.

Project management in the classical sense is based on a triangle, which can undergo some variations. This is what it looks like:

Triangle

What the theory is based on. The triangle has three vertices that describe the main parameters of the project: goal, deadlines, resources.

The formula is this: if you clearly understand the goal you want to achieve, you have the time and resources for it, you move forward.

Example: For those who hesitate to open their own business due to lack of resources, look through the phone book on your smartphone and see that your resources are limitless. Or monitor your friends on VKontakte. Is it really possible that among three hundred numbers or 955 virtual friends there won’t be someone who won’t help you at the start?

Pyramid

The shape is the same as a triangle.

But at its core, the metagoal is the company’s high lifetime goal or strategy. Find meaning for both yourself and your company.

Square

The square is already about paths and opportunities. Within the framework of the square, the theory of structures is usually given.

Companies come in two structures:

  1. Matrix
  2. Network

Matrix companies

The company is divided into departments. Each department has its own boss, and each project has its own leader. Despite the dual subordination, the structure is flexible and adapts better to changes than its predecessors and various hierarchical structures.

Most companies work on it. But there is also a significant drawback - decisions, in fact, like innovations in the company, are not made and implemented as quickly as we would like.

Network companies

In this structure everyone is equal. No hierarchy, no subordination.

In their pure form, such companies, except for any dubious MLMs that position themselves as network companies, do not exist. However, many are beginning to gradually change their management system and introduce elements of network structures. The same WIN Corp. From time to time he conducts “network” experiments on his employees, which has a beneficial effect on the atmosphere and work spirit.

Services

What exactly each company employee will do depends on the specific IT idea for the business. The form of service provision is also chosen at the discretion of the entrepreneur, taking into account the specifics of the direction. If we talk about freelancing, then before starting work, it would be a good idea to acquire a portfolio so that the client can be convinced of the competence of the performer and entrust him with the work.

Among the companies, customers especially highlight those whose employees are not only regularly in touch during working hours, but are also ready to organize a business meeting to clarify questions about the services provided.

Costs and payback

Any IT business ideas may fail, resulting in expenses that will be significantly higher than income. Provided that the entrepreneur acts correctly, the following examples are quite realistic:

  1. City news portal: investment 122,000 rubles, profit 60,000 per month. Payback 3 months.
  2. Blog on Instagram: 80,000 rubles investment, profit 20,000. Payback 4 months.
  3. Web Studio. 500,000 investment, profit 35,000 per month. Payback 15 months.

All options differ in areas of activity. You can start your own business without any investment at all, but you shouldn’t think that money will materialize out of thin air - you’ll have to work in any case.
